Israel’s winter weather fluctuates and has become unpredictable in recent years due to climate change and certain other factors, resulting in some winters being mild and sunny, while others becoming severe and cloudy with an increase in strong rains and low-temperature waves.

Just last year the winter storm “Carmel” made landfall in Israel in December bringing record rains, snow and strong winds with large temperature drops in what was one of the most intense storms in Israel, wreaking havoc across the country, downing trees and power poles, causing widespread fires and flooding, and causing at least one fatal car accident.

About a month later, in January, the winter storm Elpis headed for Israel, after hitting Greece and Turkey and would bring a significant drop in temperatures across the country, causing residents of some regions such as Jerusalem and the Golan will wake up in the morning to find the streets covered with about 8-10 inches of snow, which fell overnight.

Snow is a rare occurrence in the country, which usually experiences snowfall once every few years, but never in the amount seen that winter, and likewise, torrential downpours caused several areas to flood, with some people needing to be rescued from stranded vehicles and an entire neighborhood in the center of the country was cut off by water.

What does this winter hold for us?

Our city Sderot is located in an area close to the Negev desert and shares part of its characteristic climate, that even on sunny winter days the temperature tends to drop drastically at night, making this a nightmare for those who live in old and not properly uninsulated apartments, such as those belonging to the housing program of the local council in which many of the families that our ministry assists live, and due to the fact that the cold temperatures intensify each year, in our outreach center we are fully committed to our project of supply the population with radiator heaters to help them survive the long winter nights and also avoid health problems due to the weather.

We have recently organized to bless 60 needy families in our city with our distribution of heaters, who without our help would not have been able to acquire something similar to keep the house warm due to the high costs of these devices.

Some families who were unable to come to our center received the heater in their home from our team along with a cordial visit and words of encouragement, letting them know that they are not alone in difficulty.

Despite the great help that this heater will bring to those families, unfortunately, there are still many other families who need our support to go through the worst months which will be January and February and are eagerly awaiting news of a new distribution.

Our desire is to be able to help a minimum of 100 families and even more and your participation is essential, by joining us you can be part of this important task of bringing comfort and relief to the land of Israel as a reflection of the Messiah’s love for his people.

Our role as the body of the Messiah is to bring hope to this lost world and illuminate in times of darkness creating an impact on society, so our ministry is committed to reaching as many people as possible who suffer, and many of them depend on our commitment and dedication for the work of the Lord.

You can be part of and impact the lives of more people who need help in our city and together show them the way, the truth, and the life.

We invite you to be part of our ministry so that together we can bring hope to our border town of Sderot.

Our work would not be possible without the help of partners like you, so we ask you to consider in prayer the possibility of a monthly commitment that will allow us to continue with the Lord’s work here in Israel.

Sincerely yours
