Music As A Therapy For The Soul

As numerous studies have shown, music is a powerful weapon that helps children to feel better and facilitates communication with others as well as allowing them to free themselves of stored emotions by making them able to express what they feel.

Therapists from all over the world recommend that children with problems approach music as it stimulates emotional intelligence in the little ones and has the power to free them from worries, relaxes them, clears their minds and makes them feel better.

For this reason, the approach to music is essential for the traumatized children of Sderot who lead a very hard life as they have to face the reality in which they find themselves, between the lack of resources of their families and the missile attacks from Gaza including the constant sound of sirens which results in most of them suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and other psychological disorders.

Due to scarce funding our local music school "Music of Shalom" is in precarious conditions so our ministry and Outreach Center "City Of Life" feel called to support and help them by equipping them with what is necessary to be able to provide a better service to the children of our city and bring them relief and distraction from their routine of suffering.

We believe that it is very important for the future of the traumatized children of our city that they have a space where they can learn to express their deepest anguish through music, and thus obtain a new purpose and escape from the current situation of chaos they face.
