Spring is beautiful in any country, but in Israel, where brown dominates the landscape for most of the year, the season has a special meaning.

In the first months of the year the country transforms from a brown desert into a splendid landscape of vibrant colors.

Rivers fill to overflowing, fields and valleys turn green, and wild flowers of all kinds can be found, even in the most arid places.

Because Israel is the meeting point of various types of climates, a great assortment of habitats are produced where a rich diversity of plants and flowers can be found.

From the north and south the flowers bloom and cover the hills and fields with beautiful colors and during these months even the desert comes alive with a diversity of beautiful flowers. Two of the most common examples are the poppy and the anemone.

It comes as no surprise, therefore, that the season is one of the most popular seasons of the year for Israelis to go for walks or hikes in the countryside, or travel across the country.

Also we as a congregation went out to the blooming desert to carry out a celebration of praise to the Lord and enjoy a time of joy together sharing the word and marveling at God’s creation by seeing the beautiful flowers in the desert.

This really reminds us of the prophecies in the book of Isaiah 35:1.

1 The wilderness and the wasteland shall be glad for them, And the desert shall rejoice and blossom as the rose;
2 It shall blossom abundantly and rejoice, Even with joy and singing. The glory of Lebanon shall be given to it, The excellence of Carmel and Sharon. They shall see the glory of the Lord, The excellency of our God.
3 Strengthen the weak hands, And make firm the feeble knees.
4 Say to those who are fearful-hearted, “Be strong, do not fear! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, With the recompense of God; He will come and save you.”

In this word the Lord wants to give us encouragement and hope, with the desert blooming, so our life flourishes again when we approach him, He will really take care of us, He will keep our going out and our coming in now and forever, amen!

We invite you to be part of our ministry so that together we can bring hope to our border town of Sderot.

   Our work would not be possible without the help of partners like you, so we ask you to consider in prayer the possibility of a monthly commitment that will allow us to continue with the Lord’s work here in Israel.

Sincerely yours
