In the darkest corners of life in this region of Israel, near the border with Gaza and radical Islamic terrorism, where despair seems to reign, we find stories of people trying to overcome the difficult life they face. One such story is that of David, a man whose tale of adversity and resilience has left a profound mark on our hearts.
David, a brave soul of 60 years, has faced a series of heartbreaking challenges on his journey. Approximately three years ago, a cruel stroke left him confined to a wheelchair, depriving him of the use of his left hand and paralyzing his legs. Frustration and despair gripped poor David, and as if that wasn’t enough, his wife, who had been his companion and support in life, unable to cope with the new reality, abandoned him. For David, this was an additional burden, as he had always believed they were living a fulfilling life together. Despite the moments of shared happiness, David’s disability led his wife to make a decision that tore his heart apart, leaving him to face a path full of obstacles alone.
In this bleak landscape, David’s life is further complicated by the challenging security situation in his area, near the Gaza border. The region is known for constant missile attacks and the ever-present threat of terrorism that looms over its citizens. David finds himself trapped in the midst of this insecurity, having to cope with the stress of living with blaring sirens and missiles falling and exploding around him.
One can easily imagine the emotional burden David carries on his shoulders. Not only does he have to face the physical limitations caused by the stroke, but also the legal issues stemming from his divorce. In addition, there is the constant pressure and fear generated by the insecurity in his region. Despite all this, David continues to show incredible strength and an unwavering will to face each day with courage.
At City Of Life, we encountered David at his moment of greatest need and vulnerability. Seeing the accumulated sadness and pain in his eyes, we knew we had to take action. We approached him with open arms and hearts full of compassion, determined to provide him with all the support he needed to find his way again.

Understanding that a person in his condition requires not only physical and material support but also emotional and spiritual guidance to bear the burdens of life, our ministry has offered David a network of love and care that envelops him in moments when the world seems dark and devoid of hope.
One crucial aspect of the support David has received from City Of Life is legal assistance for his complicated divorce. Despite his wife leaving him and living separately, she refuses to agree to a divorce. As a result, David found himself entangled in a complex and painful legal battle. However, thanks to the legal resources provided by the ministry, he holds onto the hope that justice will be served, and he can move forward into a new chapter of his life.
Additionally, our City Of Life Outreach Center has joined forces to provide him with assistance in the form of food baskets and humanitarian supplies, such as diapers. We have also facilitated David’s contact with relevant government agencies to ensure he receives the rights and benefits he is entitled to. This combination of practical support and human solidarity has been a balm for David’s wounded heart
But most importantly, it is the human connection and compassion that David has found within our ministry, City Of Life, that has provided him with a safe haven where he feels loved, valued, and understood. In a world that often shows indifference towards those who suffer, City Of Life has become a beacon of hope for David, reminding him that he is not alone on his journey.
Thanks to the dedication and constant encouragement he has received, David recently left the nursing home where he resided and returned to his own home. Hope has once again blossomed in his heart as he works tirelessly to recover and reach his full potential.

At City Of Life, every person matters, and every story is valuable. As David continues his daily struggle, the ministry will continue to provide him with the love and strength he needs to move forward.
We invite all those who wish to make a difference in the lives of the most vulnerable to join us. With your support, we can bring hope, comfort, and opportunities to those in desperate situations.
Join us at City of Life, and together, we can make a difference and be a refuge of hope for those who need it most.
You can be part of and impact the lives of more people who need help in our city and together show them the way, the truth and the life.
We invite you to be part of our ministry so that together we can bring hope to our border town of Sderot.
Our work would not be possible without the help of partners like you, so we ask you to consider in prayer the possibility of a monthly commitment that will allow us to continue with the Lord’s work here in Israel.

Sincerely yours
Pastors
