One of the issues that most often affects older adults is the loss of independence. What before they could do everything by themselves, at a certain age they need help for many activities of their day to day.
However, there are tools available such as walkers that can make their lives easier and also give them back some of that independence they have lost.
Some of the most common reasons for using this aid are loss of balance, the elderly’s fear of falling, muscle weakness, respiratory or cardiac health problems, and the need to replace the cane when it ceases to be a sufficient aid.
The use of walkers or rollators brings important benefits for the elderly, some of which are:
-Autonomy. Having a walker can give the elderly person a certain autonomy to move on their own. And it will also do it safely.
-Better physical condition. People who have mobility problems often spend a lot of time sitting, which worsens their physical condition at all levels. The help of a walker will allow them to move more often, feel better, and even lose weight.
-Take breaks in your walks. The design of the walkers allows our elders to take a short break and resume walking whenever they wish.
-Improves the emotional state. A person who does not leave the house and who also does not feel autonomous is an easy prey for depression. Therefore, a walker helps improve the emotional state of those who use it. Not only because he won’t spend as much time at home, but also because he will feel that he can do things for himself, which is vital.
-Peace of families. Families will have peace of mind knowing that their loved one can get around safely with the help of their walker. This, in turn, can ease the burden on caregivers quite a bit.
A walker for an elderly person with reduced mobility is crucial to postpone or even avoid the use of a wheelchair.

And it is there, in that thin line between not being able to walk, but not wanting to give up before the wheelchair, that the walker comes in, as an orthopedic solution. A truly effective orthopedic accessory in helping to regain some of the lost mobility.
Physicians and physiotherapists know very well that an elderly person who chooses to move in a wheelchair has little chance of ever walking independently again. However, the elderly person who, although weakened, chooses to try using the walker, will continue to strengthen their muscles and remain active and will enjoy some independence to move around the house or even on the street for a longer time.
Our response to the need
Our “City Of Life” ministry understands the importance of supporting so many of these elderly who do not have the possibility of having the help of a walker due to economic difficulties that prevent them from being able to afford it. Aware of the great need, our team organized and carried out a large distribution of walkers to the neediest in our city Sderot, who were overjoyed to know that they are valued and will finally be able to regain some of the independence lost as a result of their advanced age.

When they began to try them and experience the great help and security that these walking aids gave them, our dear elderly thanked us with great joy and expressed that they could feel something special in us, an inexplicable love that is transmitted in our actions, love that It comes from our heavenly Father and moves us to do His perfect will.
Our role as the body of the Messiah is to bring hope to this lost world and illuminate in times of darkness creating an impact on society, so our ministry is committed to reaching as many people as possible who suffer, and many of them depend on our commitment and dedication for the work of the Lord.
You too can bless them and be part of this commitment of obedience to the Lord with us by joining in our goal as there are still many families to reach with the help and together we can achieve it.
You can be part of and impact the lives of more people who need help in our city and together show them the way, the truth, and the life.
We invite you to be part of our ministry so that together we can bring hope to our border town of Sderot.
Our work would not be possible without the help of partners like you, so we ask you to consider in prayer the possibility of a monthly commitment that will allow us to continue with the Lord’s work here in Israel.

Sincerely yours
Pastors
