Many people around the world imagine Israel as a warm and sunny place every single day of the year. And while our summers truly are hot and dry, winter tells a very different story, especially for those who live near the desert.
As soon as the sun sets, the temperature drops sharply. The dry air loses heat almost instantly and the strong winds that sweep across the region make the nights even harsher.
This climate is not new. In biblical times people faced the same extremes. Jacob himself described the reality of working and living in this land.
“The heat consumed me by day and the cold at night”. Genesis 31:40.
His words are still true today. The desert can burn during the day and chill to the bone at night, and for many families this contrast is part of daily life.

In places like Sderot and the surrounding communities, many homes are not well insulated. The cold wind enters easily through thin walls and old windows. Winter becomes a season of long nights, difficulty sleeping and frequent sickness, especially among children and the elderly. What looks like a mild winter on the surface becomes a real challenge inside these homes.
It is in this context that our City of Life Outreach Center began distributing heaters to families in need. Something as simple as a heater can make a home warmer, safer and far more livable during the coldest months.

Your partnership is what makes this possible. Together we are bringing practical help and real comfort to households that struggle through winter every year. And while many families have already received support, there are still many more waiting.
Understanding Israel is not just about politics or news it is a spiritual responsibility. Believers are called to love, pray for, and support the Jewish people, to celebrate their traditions, and to recognize their unique role in God’s plan, and doing so strengthens faith, fosters discernment, and positions the church to stand on truth in a world full of deception.
