Passover, the holiday of freedom and remembrance, took on a poignant tone this year in Israel, as the nation grappled with the ongoing conflict. Amidst the traditional Seder celebrations and festive gatherings, a somber atmosphere prevailed, reflecting the challenging reality faced by many.
For thousands of Israeli soldiers deployed in the field and on bases, Passover unfolded far from the comforts of home. These brave men and women, amidst the 199th day of conflict, found themselves fulfilling their duty while longing for the warmth of family and tradition. Meanwhile, countless evacuees, displaced by the violence, celebrated the holiday in unfamiliar surroundings, far from the familiar comforts of their homes.
Despite the backdrop of war, the spirit of resilience shone through. The security system, bolstered by peak vigilance from the police and IDF, ensured the safety of citizens during the holiday period. Thousands of officers and volunteers stood ready to protect public spaces and gatherings, allowing Israelis to observe Passover with a sense of security, albeit amidst uncertainty.
Yet, for many families, the joy of Passover was tinged with sorrow. The anguish of 133 individuals still held captive in Gaza cast a shadow over the festivities, leaving empty seats at Seder tables and hearts heavy with longing. Despite the challenges, families found solace in solidarity, coming together to support one another and uphold the spirit of hope and perseverance.
As Israelis navigated the complexities of celebrating Passover in wartime, the resilience and unity of the nation shone brightly. In the face of adversity, the bonds of community and faith remained unbroken, offering a beacon of hope amidst the darkness of conflict.
Blessing Families During Passover
WATCH THIS EXCLUSIVE VIDEO ABOUT THE DISTRIBUTION
This Passover holds special meaning because of the tough times we’re facing. In a year full of challenges, our support for families in Sderot, Netivot, and nearby areas has become even more important.
During this period, we’ve stepped up our efforts to help these families, giving them not just practical help but also hope and a sense of community. At our City Of Life center, we’ve organized various distributions and concerts, but we’ve been overwhelmed by how many people need help.
Many families have received food, supermarket vouchers, and the things they need for Passover, like wine and unleavened bread. These symbols mean a lot more when times are tough and there’s conflict around.

At our congregation, we had a meaningful Passover Seder where we celebrated God’s power and the story of freedom.
Through this Seder, we were reminded of how God protects and provides for His people, inspiring us to keep going with faith and thankfulness.

As the war continues and new challenges arise, our support for these communities is crucial. We’re committed to blessing these families, showing them love and light, and knowing that God protected His people in the past, we trust He’ll do the same today. Thank you for being part of this journey with us.
You can be part of and impact the lives of more people who need help in our city and together show them the way, the truth and the life.
We invite you to be part of our ministry so that together we can bring hope to our border town of Sderot.
Our work would not be possible without the help of partners like you, so we ask you to consider in prayer the possibility of a monthly commitment that will allow us to continue with the Lord’s work here in Israel.

Sincerely yours
Pastors
