The elderly residents of Sderot and Netivot, some of whom are Holocaust survivors, found themselves thrust into a nightmare reminiscent of their past experiences. As sirens blared and rockets rained down on their communities, they were forced to confront the same fear and uncertainty that haunted them during darker times. The inability to seek refuge compounded their distress, leaving them feeling vulnerable and exposed in their own homes.
Despite the passage of time, the trauma of the attack lingers for these individuals. Memories of past persecution resurface, intertwining with the fresh wounds inflicted by Hamas’ aggression. The invasion shattered their sense of security and stability, plunging them into a state of heightened anxiety and distress. For many, the scars of war run deep, casting a long shadow over their daily lives.
In the aftermath of the attack, these resilient individuals continue to grapple with the physical, emotional, and psychological toll of the violence. As they navigate the challenges of rebuilding and recovery, they rely on the support of their community and the compassion of organizations dedicated to aiding survivors. Amidst the devastation, their stories serve as a poignant reminder of the enduring strength and resilience of the human spirit.
Amidst the challenges and adversity faced by the elderly in Sderot and Netivot, our ministry is redoubling efforts to provide support and solace. Aware of the difficult situation they endure, especially those who could not be evacuated during the Hamas attack on October 7, we approach these families with compassion and solidarity.
Bringing Hope and Warmth to Israel
Our work focuses on delivering tangible aid, such as the distribution of food, to alleviate the daily hardships they face. Moreover, we go beyond material assistance; we visit the elderly, share moments of companionship, and offer words of encouragement and hope. We recognize the importance of not only addressing their basic needs but also emotionally accompanying them in these challenging times.

Each visit is an opportunity to remind them that they are not alone, that we are here to support them and provide the necessary assistance to overcome the emotional aftermath of the traumatic event. Amid adversity, our desire is to be a beacon of hope and comfort for those who have gone through difficult times and continue to face the consequences of these impactful events.
