Living in our border city Sderot is a challenge for many families who develop trauma and psychological problems due to the constant terrorist attacks perpetrated from Gaza, sirens that alert the launching of missiles, incendiary balloons and the decline of the city in general. In recent months the situation worsened even more because of the pandemic and the last war where the terrorist organization Hamas indiscriminately fired thousands of missiles towards the cities of Israel and although the situation today seems to be calmer, the attacks continue, bringing catastrophic consequences on the population.
Therefore, your prayers for and support to our psychological help project is essential, so that our specialized team can continue to provide vital psychological treatment and counseling to the most traumatized Jews in our region who desperately need it.
Lighting up the life of really traumatized family
Tina and Jaco are a lovely retired couple from our city Sderot who happen to live in the same building where months ago, during the war with Hamas, a child of only 6 years old tragically died as a result of the impact of shrapnel from a missile launched by the terrorists from Gaza who managed to penetrate the steel window of the bomb shelter and reach the family that was sheltering in it, a painful event that left a great trauma in the lives of the people of our city.
Tina recounts in a chilling and painful way what happened that afternoon:
-“We were in the living room while our son slept in our bomb shelter-room when the alarms began to sound again warning of more missiles fired in the direction of our city, we ran to the shelter with great fear of not arriving on time (in Sderot you only have 15 seconds to seek shelter from the moment sirens sound until the missile falls), we closed the door barely in time when suddenly we heard a deafening roar that shook the building, our heartbeat accelerated and we went into shock, then In a few minutes we had the courage to open the door and leave the room only to find our apartment completely destroyed, cries of desolation were heard as people left the building and rescue teams and ambulances arrived on the scene.“
-“Some time later they told us the harsh and very painful news that a 6-year-old neighbor of ours was injured and sadly killed by the shrapnel that penetrated the window of the bomb shelter and the pain was profound, I could not help but think that it could be my son instead of that child.“

-“Trying to clean the apartment was very difficult, everything was destroyed as a result of the explosion and we did not know where to start, we are not left with nothing, and for us at our age it is not easy.
Every day we thank God for having survived, but it is really scary to go through something like that, a nightmare. When I remember this I go into anxiety and stress, unable to fall asleep at night all kinds of thoughts arise in my mind.“

Since the end of the war, despite the high demand and the low budget, our professional psychological support team was able to provide help to this emotionally affected couple, where with much love they try to comfort them and restore hope to them after such a traumatic experience. experience that they had to face leading them to approach God in prayer.
After several therapeutic sessions, Tina shared her gratitude with us
-“I am very grateful for your psychological support, which is of great help to me to put this tragedy behind me and move on with my life.
After each session I feel a little stronger to begin to heal my soul and regain peace of mind ”.
New Hope For Lilian And Her Children
Lilian is a hard-working single mother of 2 brave teenagers who suffer the terrible consequences of having to face the fragile security situation in our city, which added to the pandemic caused the youngest of her children to lose all courage to study and move on, feeling without a future prospect.
Desperate Lilian did not know how to face this situation and help her son, she felt overwhelmed and depressed.

However after several sessions given by our professional team under the help of the Spirit she now happily testifies:
–“I am very happy to be able to talk to you since the sessions really help me understand what is happening to me and how to deal with it; they guide me and help me, I always leave them with more desire to look to the future.
I also see how the psychological help that you give me helps me understand my son and learn to help him in this difficult situation that he is going through due to the insecurity in which we live and the anguish caused by the pandemic. I am more encouraged to move forward and I am happy to feel the progress in my life, even if slowly, but I am improving. “

Just like these families, there are many others who urgently need professional help to face their traumas and move on with their lives, so it is imperative more than ever that you continue to pray for and support this project.
You can be part and impact the lives of more people who need psychological help in our city and together show them the way, the truth and the life.

We invite you to be part of our ministry so that together we can bring hope to our border town of Sderot.
Our work would not be possible without the help of partners like you, that is why we ask you to consider in prayer the possibility of a monthly commitment that will allow us to continue with the Lord’s work here in Israel.

Sincerely yours
