In the southern Israeli town of Sderot, the echoes of war are still fresh in the minds of its youngest residents. Just a few weeks ago, these children endured one of the most brutal attacks in the town’s history, as rockets rained down, and armed terrorists infiltrated their homes. Many were forced to hide for hours, and in some cases, days, without electricity, cut off from the outside world, as they waited for the Israeli army to reclaim the city. The emotional scars left behind by this traumatic experience run deep, and as the new school year begins, these children are still grappling with the horrifying memories of those dark days.

For many of these young students, their return to school is a fragile attempt to restore normalcy. Yet, the familiar routine of classes and playgrounds is overshadowed by the weight of the trauma they carry. The constant threat of air raid sirens, the fear of another attack, and the vivid memories of gunfire and explosions are etched into their minds. Their innocence has been shattered in ways that most children around the world cannot imagine. Every smile hides the fear, and every laugh is laced with the anxiety of an uncertain future.
Despite being evacuated to safer locations, some families have made the difficult decision to return to Sderot, determined to reclaim their lives. But the transition has been anything but easy. The children, who once ran freely in the streets, now face a reality where safety is never guaranteed, and their sense of security has been profoundly shaken. They begin this school year not only trying to keep up with their studies but also trying to heal from the nightmares that still haunt them. The resilience these families show is admirable, but the pain is palpable, and the road to recovery will be long and difficult, especially for the youngest among them.
Hope and Support for Sderot’s Children
WATCH OUR VIDEO ABOUT THE DISTRIBUTION
In the face of these challenges, our ministry, City of Life, has been working tirelessly to provide comfort and support to the children and families of Sderot. As they start this new school year, we organized a special distribution of backpacks filled with essential school supplies. We understand the emotional and psychological toll this conflict has taken on the children, many of whom are suffering from post-traumatic stress and anxiety. Yet, despite everything they have endured, it is inspiring to see them still attending school, playing with their friends, and trying to hold on to a sense of normal childhood.

Seeing these children take steps towards rebuilding their lives, even in such difficult circumstances, is a powerful reminder that war and terrorism have not won. Sderot remains a city of resilience, and the children of this city are a beacon of hope for the future. Our work is not just about providing material aid, but also about standing alongside these families, helping them regain their strength, and ensuring that their spirits remain unbroken.
Please keep these children and their families in your prayers. They are the future of this land, and together, we stand firm in the belief that Sderot will continue to be a City of Life.
You can be part of and impact the lives of more people who need help in our city and together show them the way, the truth and the life.
We invite you to be part of our ministry so that together we can bring hope to our border town of Sderot.
Our work would not be possible without the help of partners like you, so we ask you to consider in prayer the possibility of a monthly commitment that will allow us to continue with the Lord’s work here in Israel.

Sincerely yours
