Sderot, a city that has been at the heart of the conflict for over a year and a half, continues to bear witness to the deep consequences of an unending war. After so many years that families have lived under the constant sound of sirens, rushing to take shelter with every attack, unsure of when or how this cycle of violence will end. For the children of Sderot, south of Israel, the trauma runs deep and persists.
Many of them, like Miri, Moses, and other young ones, still cannot overcome the fear that takes over them when they hear a loud noise or when there is an unsettling silence. The nights are long and filled with distress, as they wake up crying, terrified by nightmares or by any sound that reminds them of the attacks. The war has marked their lives in an irreversible way, robbing them of something as fundamental as their childhood.
The scars of this conflict are invisible to many, but for the families of Sderot, the pain is tangible. Despite their efforts to rebuild their lives, the children remain the most vulnerable, carrying an emotional weight that seems impossible to overcome. For them, returning to normalcy feels increasingly distant.
However, City of Life has been working tirelessly to restore a bit of that normalcy. This year, we organized a special event for the Purim celebration, a day of joy amid the darkness. With the support of volunteers, we were able to gather children and families in a safe space, where the little ones could enjoy laughter, magic, and sweets, in an environment that allowed them to forget, even if just for a few hours, the suffering they have endured for so long.

The celebration was more than just a festive event; it was an opportunity for the children to reclaim something the war had stolen from them: the ability to be children. “Seeing our children laugh again after all we’ve been through fills our hearts,” shared one of the parents, with a gaze that reflected both relief and the sadness of everything they had lived through.
Although the scars of the past still remain and the battle against trauma continues, at City of Life, we remain committed to providing these families with moments of hope and emotional support. This event is not the end, but only a brief pause in the long process of healing. We know the road is tough, but we continue to work to give the children of Sderot the chance to dream again, to laugh, to play, and to feel safe. Because they deserve more than just to survive; they deserve to live again.
Sderot moves forward, with the resilience of its people and the support of those who are willing to help these families heal. And while the war has left deep marks, we trust the God of Israel has a plan and will never fail us.
You can be part of and impact the lives of more people who need help in our city and together show them the way, the truth and the life.
We invite you to be part of our ministry so that together we can bring hope to our border town of Sderot.
Our work would not be possible without the help of partners like you, so we ask you to consider in prayer the possibility of a monthly commitment that will allow us to continue with the Lord’s work here in Israel.

Sincerely yours
