The Emergency Squadron is a group formed by civilians and reservists who, faced with the harsh reality of living under constant threat, have voluntarily stepped up to defend their communities. These heroes are not soldiers by profession; they are parents, mothers, neighbors, and friends who, after receiving training, transform into the first line of defense when danger strikes.
When a terrorist infiltration or an unexpected attack is detected, these brave individuals are the ones who rush toward danger, putting their lives at risk to protect their families and neighbors. They hold the line until Israeli security forces arrive, often buying precious time that can save lives.
Following the devastating terrorist infiltration by Hamas on October 7 and the ongoing wave of attacks across the country, these squads have become an essential part of community safety in vulnerable cities like Sderot. They patrol the city’s entrances and exits, stay alert to threats within the city, and prepare tirelessly for any future emergency. These efforts are not obligatory but come from a deep sense of responsibility and love for their community. They are ordinary people doing extraordinary things for the safety of all.
Despite their immense courage and dedication, these squads often operate with limited resources, leaving them at a disadvantage in critical moments. Many still lack essential equipment such as protective gear, tactical boots, and even basic tools like reliable generators and flashlights, which are crucial during emergencies.
Recognizing this urgent need, our ministry has initiated a special project to support these heroes by providing essential equipment in order to enhance their readiness and effectiveness on the field. While these supplies represent a meaningful step forward, much more is required to ensure they are fully prepared to face the challenges that lie ahead.
Today, we extend an invitation to you to join us in this vital cause. Sderot faces unrelenting threats, but with your help, we can ensure that those standing on the front lines are prepared to defend their families and our community. Your support can provide the tools these heroes need to stay safe and protect others.
