We have successfully started distributing fans to displaced families returning to Sderot after being evacuated due to the war with Hamas. As Israel experienced its hottest June on record this year, with the Israel Meteorological Service reporting unprecedented temperatures. The first half of the month saw several consecutive heat waves, culminating in a record-setting high of 48.1°C (118.4°F). This makes June 2024 the hottest since record-keeping began in the Holy Land over a century ago.
Many families live in impoverished homes without air conditioning systems to combat the suffocating heat. This exposes them to risks such as heat strokes, dehydration, and heat exhaustion, which can have severe and even fatal consequences. The steep increase in electricity costs due to the energy crisis becomes an unbearable financial burden for those living in precarious situations.
In response to this situation, our Ministry, “City of Life,” has initiated the distribution of fans at our social outreach center in order to provide much-needed relief to vulnerable families struggling with the sweltering heat. Through our efforts, we have brought comfort and safety to those at risk, ensuring they can endure the summer months more comfortably and securely.
