Passover is often celebrated with great pomp and ceremony, especially on the first night, when a special family meal called the Seder is held. At the seder foods of symbolic significance commemorating the Hebrews’ liberation are eaten, and prayers and traditional recitations are performed.

The festival thus marks the first and most momentous event in Jewish history. On these seven days, all leaven, whether in bread or other mixture, is prohibited, and only unleavened bread, called matzo, may be eaten. The matzo symbolizes both the Hebrews’ suffering while in bondage and the one with which they left Egypt in the course of the Exodus. Passover is also sometimes called the Festival of Unleavened Bread.

Other of the main essential symbols of the Passover dinner (SEDER) is the wine that is distributed in different glasses with a unique symbolism each.

Our ministry “City of Life” wanted to make sure that the elderly and survivors of the holocaust of our city Sderot, who are affected by the unstable situation of our city on the border with Gaza and the difficulties of the COVID-19 pandemic, could have the possibility of celebrating this so important feast of the Jewish people that the necessary foods as well as the important symbols of the Passover supper, the unleavened bread and the wine.

For this reason, a large distribution was organized in our building where hundreds of happy elderly people were divided into different groups due to COVID-19 restrictions to be able to receive supermarket vouchers to buy everything they need for dinner and also they could enjoy our gift of Matzot (unleavened bread) and one of the sweetest wines of local origin.

Knowing that many of the elderly were not able to reach our building, our team set out to tour our city, distributing supermarket vouchers, matzot, and came to the homes of the most needy elderly, bringing them joy and happiness in knowing that this year they did not lack what is necessary for the great Passover celebration.

We want to thank all the friends and supporters of our ministry who helped us make it possible to bless the poor and suffering elderly and Holocaust Survivors of our city and fill them with joy and hope this Passover despite the difficult situation we are going through due to the pandemic.

We invite you to be a part of our ministry so that together we can bring hope to our border city of Sderot.

We invite you to be part of our ministry so that together we can bring hope to our border town of Sderot.

Our work would not be possible without the help of partners like you, that is why we ask you to consider in prayer the possibility of a monthly commitment that will allow us to continue with the Lord’s work here in Israel.

Sincerely yours
