Every winter, after the rains have fallen, the dry wilderness of Israel transforms into a vibrant, green carpet. In the southern Negev desert, the barren fields are covered with a striking red color. These are the Kalaniot (Anemones), one of the most beautiful wildflowers in the Promised Land. They have been blooming in Israel’s mountainous regions for centuries, but in the twentieth century, as more Jews returned to their ancestral land after 2,000 years, these flowers began to flourish across the desert. The land, once dry and lifeless, became a symbol of revival—showing that even the most desolate places can come to life again.
But the beauty of these flowers is not just a natural marvel. It also serves as a reminder of a biblical prophecy. The prophet Isaiah foretold that in the last days, the desert of Israel would be filled with life, as a sign of restoration for the Jewish nation. In Isaiah 35:1-2, we read:
“The wilderness and the wasteland shall be glad for them, And the desert shall rejoice and blossom like the rose; It shall blossom abundantly and rejoice, Even with joy and singing.”

This prophecy comes to life every year when the Negev, one of Israel’s driest regions, is covered with Kalaniot. What was once barren and desolate is now covered in vibrant flowers, fulfilling God’s promise to His people.
This regrowth is not just a natural event but a symbol of the Jewish people’s return to their land and their efforts to make it flourish once more. The Kalaniot, with their resilience and delicate beauty, remind us that even in difficult times, there is always hope. Just as the Kalaniot return each year to bloom after the dry season, so too the people of Israel have returned to their homeland, flourishing once again. Despite centuries of oppression, exile, and attempts to erase them, the Jewish people have survived, thrived, and restored the land that was once desolate. Their story, like the story of the flowers, is one of perseverance, revival, and the fulfillment of God’s promises.

Today, more than ever, we can see that the blossoming of Israel is not just the result of human efforts, it is part of a divine plan. Every time the Kalaniot bloom in the Negev, they remind us that God is faithful to His word, and that Israel, like the flowers, continues to flourish, just as the prophets foretold.
You can be part of and impact the lives of more people who need help in our city and together show them the way, the truth and the life.
We invite you to be part of our ministry so that together we can bring hope to our border town of Sderot.
Our work would not be possible without the help of partners like you, so we ask you to consider in prayer the possibility of a monthly commitment that will allow us to continue with the Lord’s work here in Israel.

Sincerely yours
