Sderot, our city in the south of Israel located on the border with Gaza, has been besieged for several years by the launch of missiles by jihadist militias and the terrorist organization Hamas, who govern the territory, and through terrorism try to cause as much damage as possible to the Israeli civilian population.

Between missile warning sirens indicating that you have only 15 seconds to seek refuge, deafening roars of rockets being hit in the sky by the anti-missile defense system or crashing into a building in the city, screams of people having anxiety attacks and ambulances roaming the city in search of the injured, the population of Sderot faces a level of tension and continuous stress that has a significant impact on the mental and physical health of the population, especially children.

But even in this grim scenario, there are people with a big hearts whose stories deserve to be told, like the case of Yohany and his family, Jewish immigrants who love Sderot and have a passion to help.

Yohany is a teacher and director of the local children’s sports club, an initiative of his own, without government support, which aims to help children through sports to keep going despite the traumatic situation they have to face growing up in Sderot.

Using exercise as a method of distraction and relaxation, children manage to face their fears and insecurities and regain confidence, thus raising their self-esteem.

The club, which operates as a non-profit foundation and is run by volunteers, has thus helped different generations of children, making Yohany known, respected and loved by the community by enrolling children with minimal or no enrollment fees.

Yohany’s income from the club is minimal, so he and his family live in an old and dilapidated apartment in the council housing system, where they lead a hard life, especially after having to fight cancer and other health problems.

Our Response

Our ministry “City Of Life” has been helping Yohany and his club for a while now and seeing the dire need for urgent repairs to his old council housing apartment we decided we should support him immediately as he would not be able to pay for such repairs himself.

As part of our home renovation project, the team of professional construction workers carefully checked the damage in Yohany’s home and proceeded to carry out the necessary repairs so that the family could lead a dignified life in a home with basic comforts.

Holes were filled, old plumbing replaced, tiles and walls renovated and new paint to finish leaving the bathroom and other places in the house in impeccable condition.

Yohany and his family received our help with great joy and were amazed to see how their house turned out. Definitely a relief for a family that has shown so much love to the Sderot community.

Our role as the body of the Messiah is to bring hope to this lost world and illuminate in times of darkness creating an impact on society, so our ministry is committed to reaching as many people as possible who suffer, and many of them depend on our commitment and dedication for the work of the Lord.

You can be part of and impact the lives of more people who need help in our city and together show them the way, the truth, and the life.

We invite you to be part of our ministry so that together we can bring hope to our border town of Sderot.

Our work would not be possible without the help of partners like you, so we ask you to consider in prayer the possibility of a monthly commitment that will allow us to continue with the Lord’s work here in Israel.

Sincerely yours
