Passover is known as the “festival of freedom”, as it commemorates the Jewish Exodus from Egypt after 210 years of slavery. Passover is also considered the “birthday” of the Jewish people, and its lessons of struggle and identity continue to form the foundation of Jewish consciousness, 3,300 years after the event.

Known as Pessach, it is one of the most important celebrations for the community. and commemorates the liberation of the Hebrew people from slavery in Egypt, the exodus and the 40 years through the desert on the way to the Promised Land.

Passover is the celebration that commemorates the last plague that came upon the Egyptians, thanks to which the liberation of the people of Israel from slavery and their departure from Egypt finally happened.

On the night of that first Passover, the firstborn of those homes that did not mark the jambs and lintel of their doors with the blood of the lamb died according to the instructions provided by God in Exodus 12. However, the houses of those who obeyed the instruction, were overlooked and no firstborn died there and from there, an annual commemoration for having been “Passed over” was instituted by the Lord.

24 And ye shall observe this thing for an ordinance to thee and to thy sons for ever.

25 And it shall come to pass, when ye be come to the land which the Lord will give you, according as he hath promised, that ye shall keep this service.

26 And it shall come to pass, when your children shall say unto you, What mean ye by this service?

27 That ye shall say, It is the sacrifice of the Lord’s passover, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt, when he smote the Egyptians, and delivered our houses. And the people bowed the head and worshipped.

Pessach Fulfilled Prophetically

Pessach was fulfilled on the tenth day of the first month, the same day that the lamb for sacrificing was selected by the people of Israel, Yeshua entered Jerusalem riding on a donkey’s colt as a clear announcement that Yeshua is The Lamb of Pesach.

A few days later, after his supper with his disciples, which happened on the day before the Passover lamb was sacrificed, Yeshua was arrested. Throughout the next day, as people prepared for their Passover meal that night, he was questioned, beaten, mocked, ridiculed, and officially declared without fault (John 19:6). Just as the Passover lamb was to be without blemish (Exodus 12:5), so was The Lamb, the Messiah, without blemish, and then, the people called for Yeshua’s crucifixion.

As the Pesach lambs were being slaughtered, the land darkened. Yeshua experienced Psalm 22 fulfilling it, and then, as the final lamb was being sacrificed in the Temple, he shouted “IT IS FINISHED!,” bowed his head, and gave up his spirit, paying our debt. For years, the sacrifice of lambs announced the image of a substitution for the price that we owed for having transgressed the blood covenant with the Lord, but now the Messiah came as the substitution, redeemed us, and renewed the covenant.

These families were motivated by our words of encouragement and love and were happy to know that they can count on us, that we care about them and that we will be in contact with them for whatever they need.

With gratitude on their faces, they recovered some hope and strength to move on with their lives and, most importantly, they were able to feel the unconditional love of the Father through us.

You can be part of and impact the lives of more people who need help in our city and together show them the way, the truth and the life.

We invite you to be part of our ministry so that together we can bring hope to our border town of Sderot.

Our work would not be possible without the help of partners like you, so we ask you to consider in prayer the possibility of a monthly commitment that will allow us to continue with the Lord’s work here in Israel.

Sincerely yours
